EQUIPMENT OPERATOR – NIGHT SHIFT (7PM-7AM):

The Landfill Equipment Operator will receive regular, daily instruction from the Operations Manager and the Lead Operator. The Landfill Equipment Operator will follow the established policies and procedures of Pawnee Waste, in the execution of her/his duties, including adherence to the Pawnee Waste Health and Safety Plan.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Safely completing routine assignments in heavy equipment used in landfill construction and maintenance, and general civil work construction and maintenance
  • Successfully operating heavy-duty equipment with considerable care and attention as well as experience (i.e., motor graders, bulldozers, compactors, loaders, excavators, snowplow, truck)
  • Performing work assignments received from superiors, often without close supervision. All work is reviewed and evaluated to determine if proper care was exercised in operating and maintaining the equipment and the promptness and completeness and quality with which the assigned work is performed
  • Prepare, maintain and present work order, equipment maintenance and safety reports as required
  • Supporting other staff, particularly landfill and trucking staff, in executing assigned tasks and duties. This includes assistance as required due to illness, vacation or other leave.
  • Occasionally other duties may be assigned to the Landfill Equipment Operator, by the Operations Manager or other management on a short-duration basis.

The Landfill Equipment Operator is expected to comply with all Pawnee Waste plans, policies and procedures, including codes of ethics and behavior, and present a professional and respectful image on behalf of Pawnee Waste to supervisors and employees, Commissioners, stakeholder residents, customers, suppliers and contractors, regulatory and elected officials, and the general public.

SKILLS REQUIRED:

  • Considerable skills in the safe operation and use of heavy construction/trucking equipment typically used for landfills and other civil works
  • A valid Motor Vehicle Operator’s license
  • Exhibit initiative, responsibility and an understanding of the capabilities of the equipment being operated
  • Knowledge, skill and ability to operate equipment safely to avoid accidents
  • Knowledge, skill and ability in the maintenance and servicing of the equipment at the work site or when the equipment is in the shop for repair, servicing and/or maintenance
  • Ability to carry out written or oral instructions
  • Exhibit a high level of initiative, work performance and responsibility in the operation of equipment and performance of duties

COMMUNICATION/INTERACTIONS:

  • Interact and consult daily, with the Operations Manager, Lead Landfill Equipment Operator, and other Pawnee Waste managers and staff, in the execution of her/his assigned responsibilities
  • Equipment Operators have limited interaction with vendors, stakeholder residents, and customer waste generators and hauling contractors
  • Equipment Operators will occasionally consult with industry peers in both informal situations and formal training courses and conferences

WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • The position requires daily work at a landfill site in climactic conditions ranging from extreme cold to extreme heat. Generally, the work is in an enclosed, air-conditioned equipment cabin, but exposure to the elements can be frequent.
  • There is a risk of exposure to dust, and potentially toxic materials.
  • Equipment operators are required to wear all assigned personal protective equipment and maintain same in proper condition for use.
  • Occasional overtime or irregular hours may be required on short notice.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:

  • Compensation commensurate with experience level.

The successful candidate will be required to pass a drug screen, background check, and physical exam after an offer has been extended and prior to being employed.

FLUIDS PROCESSOR:

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Ensure Health and Safety is the number one goal by following policies, processes, and always acting in a safe manner
  • Repair, troubleshoot, maintain, set up and rig down fluids control equipment
  • Service and maintain fluids control equipment on a weekly basis
  • Follow proper sampling procedures
  • Complete all required paperwork daily
  • Communicate with customers, supervisors & co-workers in a professional manner
  • Operate heavy equipment (loaders, excavators, and forklifts)
  • Perform other duties and tasks as assigned by operations management

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • Experience in fluids control field or similar mechanical experience, to be able to identify potential mechanical problems
  • Possess a satisfactory driving record & current driver’s license
  • Must be able to pass background check, pre-placement physical, and substance abuse testing
  • Must be able to operate or, be trained to operate heavy equipment such as loader in a safe manner
  • Must be able to operate or, be trained to operate existing fluids control line of equipment and or any new fluids control technology introduced to the market

WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • The position requires daily work at a landfill site located in Grover, CO, in various climactic conditions, ranging from extreme cold to extreme heat.
  • There is a risk of exposure to dust, and potentially toxic materials.
  • Fluids control processors must wear all assigned personal protective equipment and maintain same in proper condition for use.
  • The position may require occasional overtime or irregular hours on short notice.

GENERAL LABORER-NIGHT SHIFT (7PM-7AM):

The Landfill General Laborer will receive regular, daily instruction from the Operations Manager. The Landfill General Laborer will follow the established policies and procedures of Pawnee Waste, in the execution of her/his duties, including adherence to the Pawnee Waste Health and Safety Plan.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manual labor, including, greasing and maintenance of equipment, moving pumps and hoses, keeping landfill clean and presentable
  • Fueling and servicing vehicles, equipment, and machinery
  • Cross training on equipment and machinery
  • Heavy lifting, moving items from one place to another within the landfill
  • Mowing, weeding, and landscaping
  • Assisting with dust control
  • Answering phone in a professional and enthusiastic manner when needed
  • Maintaining the interior of facilities by assisting other employees and departments where needed
  • Assisting customers with unloading their vehicles
  • Removing debris caused from extreme weather conditions
  • Directing traffic at the site as necessary
  • Performing work assignments received from superiors, normally without close supervision
  • Supporting other staff, particularly landfill and trucking staff, in executing assigned tasks. This includes assistance as required during the absence of other staff due to illness, vacation, or other leave.

Occasionally, other operations duties may be assigned to the Landfill General Laborer, by the Operations Manager, or designate, on a short-duration basis.
